Born in Oslo Norway in 1991, Guri was raised in the multicultural surroundings of Taos, New Mexico, Chamonix, France, and Maui , Hawai’i, with an active skiing & surfing upbringing.
Her first memories of yoga are as a small child; partner-poses and lion’s breathe with her mother. She began a regular practice in the studio setting at the age of 18 and later dove into the Ashtanga primary series during deep emotional healing after her mother’s passing in 2011. Her passion of surfing brought her through this challenging time and she discovered not only the physical benefit that yoga had on her surfing but also a deeper interconnection between the two. Guri is now a RYT 200 and Yoga for Surfers® Certified Instructor; she went on to receive her yoga teacher training through Mangala Yoga, Maui as well as to study with world renowned Yoga for Surfers® founder Peggy Hall.
Guri is honored to share the ancient teachings of yoga while incorporating her other passions of surfing, skiing, and sustainable living. She teaches to learn, practices with devotion, and strives to recognize the union (yoga) in everyday life.
